After The Order Of Melchizedek

By L.Campbell Evans

When God began to speak to Abram his name had not yet been changed to Abraham. He was still just Abram, meaning a father of heights, a lofty father, a high father. And the first thing God told him was,

"Get the out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee" Genesis 12:1

Abram was being invited into the kingdom of God. He told Abram, I want you to come out of your country, come out of the world. I want you to leave all those folks that are pulling you down, in that land where there is idol worship and fear, I want you to come out of your father's land. That use to be your kindred but you a new family now! He said, I am going to take you into a place that is My pleasure.

"And I will make thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great… And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: So Abram departed, … and Lot went with him…" Genesis 12:2-4

First God told Abram He was going to make him a great nation. He said, I desire to do this for you. Second He said, I want to bless you and make your name great. God goes on to tell Abram because of His love for him He will bless those who bless him and curse those who curse him. God was saying it is a righteous thing for Me to bring tribulation on those that trouble you, it is a righteous thing.

Now when Abram left he carried his nephew Lot with him. Lot's name meant veil. He carried a veil into the land the Lord was going to show him. We see this same veil in the church today. When we enter into the Kingdom of God we allow the veil to deprive us of the full understanding of what was accomplished for us, the church, in the finished work of Jesus Christ. By faith we need to allow ourselves to see the veil gone, rent from top to bottom. It's all by faith!

"And the king of Sodom went out to met him after the return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that ere with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the kings's dale." Genesis 14:17

Scripture tells us that Abram had a group of well-trained servants, they went into this battle and won. They were well trained because they walked in the brilliance of the Kingdom; the veil was gone. And in this battle of Chedorlaomer they won much spoil, rescued Lot and the people.

"And Melchisedec king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: " Genesis 14:18-19

Melchisedec, priest of the most high God, not only brings unto Abram bread and wine, he then turns and blesses him, revealing to Abram how God looks at him. Remember Melchisedec is from the most high God and God is blessing Abram through him. After he blesses him he tells him he is "possessor of heaven and earth".

Not only did Melchisedec bless him, he declared to him that he was the "possessor of heaven and earth," that implies, HE OWNS IT! It had already been purchased for him because Jesus was "slain before the foundation of the world". "Melchisedec, priest of the most high God" knew that Abram was possessor of heaven and earth. He had a revelation of what had happened and he was telling Abram you are entering into something magnificent. Remember this is under Old Covenant, but it was a shadow of what was to come and what was to come was greater than anything he had known. So Melchisedec declared to him, he prophesied him, you are the "possessor of heaven and earth".

Are we not heirs of God in Christ? Are we not hidden in Christ? God can not see us, He sees Christ. That should take away everything self-consciousness, condemnation, fear, everything we have ever had to struggle with. We are hidden in Christ! Hallelujah! Melchisedec is talking to us because Jesus is after the order of Melchisedec and if we were in Him before the foundation of the world, then we too are after the order of Melchisedec.

"And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies in thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all." Genesis 14:20

When Abram heard Melchisedec bless God for delivering his enemies into his hand he gave tithes to the priest of the most high God. Abram began to understand who the "possessor of heaven and earth" really was and he said, my Lord, my God I want to give back part of what I have. I'll give you a tenth of what I have, so he gave tithes. Abram saw it as a great joy to give tithes unto the priest of his God.

"And the king of Sodom, said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself. And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the Lord, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, that I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:" Genesis 14:21-23

Abram did not want anything to do with the king of Sodom's suggestion because he had come to realize who God was, he recognized Him as the "possessor of heaven and earth".

When Melchisedec came to Abram with bread and wine, God began then revealing Himself to him. We have to know who God is before we can see what He has given us. Abram was beginning to receive the revelation of what God had given him; he was beginning to see himself as the "possessor of heaven and earth". It was God's desire for Abram to receive the full revelation of who he was in Him. He then told Abram, "fear not, I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward." (Genesis 15:1) Receive all I have for thee, receive it, receive it by faith!

"The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec." Psalms 110:4

The priesthood of Melchisedec is the priesthood that is being raised up in this hour; we are after the order of Melchisedec. We are to have the bread and wine for all to partake of. We are the servers of the bread and wine.

"The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. The Lord shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth." Psalm 110:1-3

First we need to understand God calls us, (the church) Zion and He says the rod of His strength is going to come out of us. He is going to bring it forth. He continues to say "rule though in the midst of your enemies". When the revelation comes, WE ARE the possessor, it has been purchased for us, it has been bought for us, it is all ours then we will not have to question can I do it! He said "rule in the midst of your enemies there is a rod of strength coming out of you because you are Zion. Realize you are holy and every place you go your taking holiness with you. Be holy for I am holy. Go forth in the beauty of holiness, in mercy and compassion as the breaking forth of the new day. For I the Lord your God have sworn it and I will not repent though are the priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec."

God says I am bringing My order into this priestly group I am raising up, "after the order of Melchisedec, the priest of the most high God". They will realize whose they are; "the possessor of heaven and earth" and that they are "the possessor of heaven and earth". "Thou will be a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec," for always, for eternity.

"And He saith in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec." Hebrews 5:6

This Scripture is speaking of Jesus who is after the order of Melchisedec and because we were in Him before the foundation of the world, then we too are after the order of Melchisedec. We are to go forth as Jesus did and as we also saw Melchisedec do when he blessed Abram, blessing, serving bread and wine. Everything that comes forth from our mouth is to be a blessing.

"And this Melchisdedc, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of kings and blessed him;To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also Ding of Salem, which is King of peace;" Hebrews 7:1-2

Jesus is revealed as the King of righteousness. We also need to see ourselves righteous for we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and He is revealed as the King of Peace, or the Prince of Peace. Did Jesus not say, "My peace I give unto you"? Therefore we should always have peace because whatever He gives us is ours; He will not take it back. We should always have peace!

"Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth priest continually." Hebrews 7:3

Jesus operated in every function of the fivefold ministry. He did not want to be served. He wanted to serve and that is what a priest does, continually serves in everything they do. Let us not forget we too are priest and should desire to be servants!

"Now consider how great this man was, unto whom the great patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of spoils. And verily they that were of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham. But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises. And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better. And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth. And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham. For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him." Hebrews 7:7-10

Jesus gave us everything He was and is when we received Him. Why, because we were nailed to the cross with Him, we died with Him. We were in His loins before the foundation of the world. Just as Levi, received tithes according to the law, he also payed tithes to Melchisedec even before he was born for he was in the loins of Abraham when Abraham met Melchisedec.

Think about it, we were in the loins of Jesus and everything He did, we did every place He went we were with Him. Every word He spoke, every life He touched, we were there! We must be like Abraham who received by faith everything the Lord spoke to him. He received by faith that he was the possessor of heaven and earth. Let us also receive by faith for we too are the possessors of heaven and earth. We have been given the Ark of the Covenant the whole Ark. The Lord has given all of Himself to us holding nothing back, if we will only believe!
